A zero-waste kitchen isn’t just about being eco-friendly, it's about making the most of what you have, saving money, and creating a healthier home. With a few simple habits, you can reduce waste without sacrificing taste or convenience.

1. Plan Your Meals

Before shopping, make a list based on what you already have at home. This prevents buying duplicates and you only buy what you’ll use.

2. Store Food Properly

Learn how to store fruits, veggies, and dry goods so they last longer. For example, keep herbs in a glass of water, refrigerate berries in a paper towel-lined container, and store onions away from potatoes.

3. Use Every Part of the Ingredient

Vegetable peels, stems, and bones can be turned into broths. Citrus peels can be used for zest or natural cleaning products.

4. Use Your Leftovers

Transform leftovers into new meals roasted veggies can become soups, leftover dal can be used in parathas and rice can be turned into fried rice.

5. Compost What You Can’t Eat

If something truly can’t be eaten, compost it to return nutrients to the soil instead of sending it to a landfill.

Reducing waste in your kitchen helps your wallet, the planet, and your creativity. Start small, and you’ll see the benefits quickly.
