I am Simran Wadhwa nutritionist at The Kenko Life.

Crash Diets – Are diets that help you lose weight (can be fat/muscle/water weight) instantly, but are not healthy way of losing weight as you might lose out on nutrients as well.

Here are some reasons to quit crash diets:

ften restrict essential nutrients, leading to deficiencies that can affect your overall health.

  •       Unsustainable: These diets are usually not sustainable in the long term, leading to a cycle of yo-yo dieting.

  •       Focus on Quick Fixes: Crash diets promote the idea of quick fixes rather than fostering healthy, long-term lifestyle changes.

  •       Metabolism Slowdown: Rapid weight loss can slow down your metabolism, making it harder to maintain weight loss in the long run.

  •       Muscle Loss: Instead of losing fat, crash diets can lead to muscle loss, which is not ideal for a healthy body.

  •       Mental Health Impact: Crash diets can lead to increased stress, anxiety, and a negative relationship with food.

  •       Binge Eating: The restrictive nature of crash diets can trigger binge eating episodes once the diet ends.

  •       Lack of Energy: Extreme calorie restriction can leave you feeling fatigued and low on energy, affecting daily activities.

  •       Health Risks: Some crash diets can pose health risks, such as heart problems, gallstones, or electrolyte imbalances.

  •       Body Image Issues: Constantly dieting can create unrealistic body image expectations and contribute to dissatisfaction with your appearance.

It’s better to adopt a balanced diet and exercise routine for sustainable weight management!
